Choosing the right hot tub is an important decision, which is why we offer a network of certified and trusted Platinum Spas partners across the UK, USA and Europe. With their expertise and knowledge, they will help you choose the right hot tub or swim spa.
We’ve collated and answered a number of swim spa and hot tub FAQs below, which will hopefully answer any questions you have for us.
The larger the hot tub, the more power and electrical current that is needed. When you go up to three or four pumps, you may be looking at a 40-amp feed. There is no such thing as a 32-amp hot tub.
32 amps is the amount of power that is required to run a standard hot tub that will have a heater and a couple of pumps running simultaneously. With a 32 amp, you could use it for three or four hours and your heater won’t turn off and the temperature will remain the same.
We find that this is one of the most common hot tub FAQs. The answer is different for each customer depending on who will be using it – a couple, family, or friends. Even if there will only be two people using the hot tub, different options of seats will allow you to soothe different muscles.
You may also require a greater number of loungers rather than seats. We have various hot tubs by size, whether you’re in the market for 3 person hot tubs, 6 person hot tubs all the way up to 8 person hot tubs.

Yes, you can install your swim spa sunk into decking, but it’s important to leave a 600 mm access gap around the entire spa. This ensures proper ventilation and allows for future maintenance. We also recommend adding a trap door or removable decking panel so technicians can reach the side access panels if needed. This setup helps maintain safe operation and extends the lifespan of your spa.
Yes, every Platinum Spas swim spa comes with a built-in drainage outlet located at the base, making water removal simple and efficient. For faster draining, especially during maintenance or water changes, we recommend using a submersible pump. This helps save time and ensures your spa is ready for refilling or servicing with ease.
Swim spa water temperature can be set up to 40°C (104°F). For swimming, the ideal temperature is around 30°C (86°F), while aquatic therapy is best between 30°C and 33°C (86–91°F). For relaxing in the therapy seats, we recommend about 37.5°C (99.5°F). In swim spas with dual temperature zones, the hot tub section can be heated separately up to 40°C for maximum comfort.
Yes, one person can comfortably sit and relax in the swim spa seat while another swims. Although there might be some splashing, it’s easy to enjoy watching or resting without disrupting the swimmer’s workout. Swim spas are designed to accommodate both activities simultaneously for a versatile wellness experience.
