Platinum Superior-Zone

Superior-Zone is our patented ozone system, fitted to every model. During each filtration cycle it injects ozone into the water, where it breaks down bacteria, oils and organic matter at a molecular level before they can cloud the water or feed algae.

Ozone does not replace a sanitizer, but it does most of the heavy lifting, so you use noticeably less chlorine or bromine to hold the same reading. Less chemical in the water means softer water on skin and eyes, and less time spent dosing.

Double filtration

Two filters run in parallel rather than one, doubling the surface area that catches debris on every pass. Both work during the circulation cycles, so water is cleaned continuously rather than only when the jets are running.

Twin filters also last longer between cleans, because each one is doing half the work. Rinse them weekly, deep clean monthly and replace them roughly once a year.

Platinum Pure

Exclusive to the Luxury range, Platinum Pure adds three further stages to the ozone system. UV-C light neutralizes pathogens that pass through it. A mineral ionizer releases trace silver and copper ions that inhibit bacteria and algae. A de-gas chamber removes excess ozone before the water returns to the tub.

Together the four stages neutralize 99.9 percent of bacteria and pathogens, and cut the sanitizer you need to a maintenance dose. It is the system to choose if you have sensitive skin, or if the tub will be used by children.

Luxury Range

Balboa Purezone water monitoring

Also Luxury only, Purezone tests the water for you. An internal sensor suite samples twice a day and sends pH, sanitizer and balance readings to your phone. You can request a live reading at any time.

It replaces the test strips, and more usefully it replaces the guesswork. You dose what the water needs, when it needs it, and you find out about a drift in the chemistry days before it would have shown as cloudy water.

What you still need to do

No system makes a hot tub maintenance free, and we would rather you knew that before you buy. Every owner needs to keep a sanitizer in the water, test it weekly (or read the app), rinse the filters, and drain and refill every three to four months.

What Platinum Spas changes is how much of each. Ozone and filtration keep the water clearer for longer on a lower chemical dose, and Purezone tells you exactly when to act. Our owner guides cover the routine step by step.

Common questions

Yes, at a lower level. Ozone destroys contaminants as water passes through the system, but it does not persist in the tub, so a residual sanitizer is still needed to protect the water between cycles.

Every three to four months for a domestic tub. Heavy use or a lot of bathers shortens that. Purezone owners can see the total dissolved solids trend and time the drain to it.

Platinum Pure and Purezone are built into the Luxury range plumbing and control system and are not sold as retrofits. Every range does include Superior-Zone ozone and double filtration.
