13 Amp Plug and Play Hot Tubs

A plug and play hot tub runs from a 13 amp supply, the same rating as a standard UK plug. You don't need a dedicated 32 amp circuit from your consumer unit, so there is usually less electrical work. That suits a rented home, a holiday let or a garden where a new circuit would be awkward.

Seven of our hot tubs run from 13 amps. The St. Lucia, St Tropez, Reims and Tahiti are from our Deluxe range. The Vacation Retreat, Vacation Lounge and Vacation Social are built for holiday lets.

Choosing a 13 amp hot tub

13 amp or 32 amp?

A 13 amp supply gives you about 3kW. That is enough for the heater or the jets at full power, but not both at once, so the heater pauses while the jets run on high. After a long soak the water takes longer to come back up to temperature. A 32 amp hot tub runs both together and heats faster, but needs its own circuit.

For weekends and holiday lets, 13 amps is usually enough. If you soak most evenings, or all through the winter, a 32 amp model will keep up better.

What you still need

Plug and play doesn't mean any socket will do. The hot tub needs its own weatherproof, RCD-protected outdoor socket, fitted by a qualified electrician. Never run it from an extension lead.

A hot tub that runs from a 13 amp supply, so it doesn't need a dedicated 32 amp circuit. It still needs its own outdoor socket, fitted by an electrician.

Not an indoor socket, and never through an extension lead. A 13 amp hot tub needs its own weatherproof, RCD-protected outdoor socket, fitted by a qualified electrician. That is usually a smaller job than running a 32 amp circuit.

Yes. A 13 amp supply can't run the heater and the jets at full power together, so the heater pauses while the jets are on high. Expect a longer wait to reheat after a long soak, especially in winter. Keeping the cover on between soaks helps most.

The Tahiti, with 36. The Reims, St Tropez, Vacation Lounge and Vacation Social have 25, and the St. Lucia and Vacation Retreat have 23.

The Vacation Retreat works on either supply. For the other models, ask your dealer before you buy.
