How heavy is a hot tub?

A welded stainless steel frame, a moulded base and a lifetime shell structure warranty. This is what sits under every Platinum Spas shell.
Every Platinum Spas hot tub, swim spa and mini pool is built on a welded, tubular 304 stainless steel frame. Stainless does not rust, warp or twist with the seasons, so the shell it carries stays true for the life of the tub.
Most spas at this price use a timber or pressed steel frame. Timber swells and shrinks with moisture. Pressed steel rusts where it is cut. A welded tubular frame does neither, which is why we can put a lifetime warranty on the shell structure it supports.
The frame stands on a fibreglass-reinforced ABS pan base. It is moulded in one piece, so there are no joints for water to find and nothing for the ground to draw heat through.
Inside the pan, cabinet-grade insulation board closes the gap between the base and the shell. Cold rising from a patio or a paved base is stopped before it reaches the water. The pan also keeps pests, damp and debris out of the equipment bay, which matters more than it sounds when the tub has been outside for ten winters.
Because the shell is supported by a frame that will not move, we warrant the shell structure for life, which we define as ten years on the Deluxe, Premium, Luxury, Swim Spa and Mini Pool ranges. The Vacation range, built for holiday lets and heavy commercial use, carries five years.
The shell surface, the acrylic you can see and touch, is covered for five years on most ranges and seven on Luxury. Control systems, heaters, pumps and plumbing carry two years, or three on Luxury. The full table is on our warranty page and in the back of the brochure.
Two things end most warranty conversations before they start: water chemistry and installation. Acrylic damaged by water left out of balance for weeks is wear, not a fault. A tub sat on a base that is not level or not solid puts loads through the shell that no frame can correct.
Both are easy to get right. Test the water weekly, and put the tub on a level concrete pad or a paving base rated for the filled weight, which is listed on every product page.
It covers the shell structure for ten years on every range apart from Vacation, which is five. In practice a welded stainless frame outlasts that comfortably, but ten years is what we put in writing.
The warranty is registered to the original purchaser. Contact your dealer before completion and they can advise on the handover for that specific tub.
A level, solid base rated for the filled weight of the tub, which is on every product page. A concrete pad or paving on a compacted sub-base both work. Decking needs a structural engineer to sign off the loading.
